Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will I need?
This varies by treatment and individual. Most clients complete between three and six sessions. Smoking cessation often requires just one extended session. Your therapist will give you a realistic expectation at your free initial consultation.
Does hypnotherapy actually work?
Yes, for the right conditions and with the right therapist. There is a growing body of clinical research supporting hypnotherapy for anxiety, IBS, phobias, smoking cessation, and pain management. It is most effective when the client is genuinely motivated and open to the process.
Will I lose control or be made to do things?
No. This is a very common misconception fuelled by stage hypnosis. You remain fully aware and in control throughout your session. You cannot be made to do or say anything against your will. The hypnotic state is simply a deeply relaxed, focused state of attention.
What happens in a session?
We begin with a conversation about what has brought you in and what you want to achieve. The hypnotherapy element involves me guiding you into a deeply relaxed state using a combination of breathing, visualisation, and language. You remain comfortable throughout and remember the session afterwards.
How long does each session last?
Standard sessions are 60 minutes. The smoking cessation session is extended to 90 to 120 minutes. Your free initial consultation lasts approximately 30 minutes and is conducted by phone or video call.
Can I combine hypnotherapy with other treatments?
Absolutely. Hypnotherapy works well alongside counselling, psychotherapy, and GP-managed medication. We simply ask that you inform us of any other treatments or medications you are receiving so we can tailor the approach appropriately.
